Today

Tomorrow Paula, her mom and I are going to a marketing conference that focuses on the internet. Will be fun and I hope productive.

I have loved computer technology from the time I realized that I had total control of my images in the various programs that we use. In the days of film, the first thing I did was choose the right film for the job. Color film had pretty much a standard processing. B&W film could be manipulated in the processing phase. That ended a lot of the control because next I would send my negatives to my lab.  To do that, a negative was mounted on a cardboard card with a specific sized opening. The negative was positioned for the cropping I desired.  I also included instructions for retouching.  At the lab the retouch specialist would retouch the negative and when the print was produced the rest of the retouching was done on the print. With luck, when I got the order, I received what I had ordered. Now, of course, all the art work and cropping is done in the studio. The only thing the lab has to do is produce what is sent to them. This is so much more fun!
